Springtime in the south is something I look forward to every year. From the light colors to the good food it is something that reminds me Iām home. This editorial spread was meant to be an instructional article about planning a southern lunch. I pulled from my roots in this project, making my families recipes and using my mothers nifty tricks for party planning. I went with light cream colors to evoke the airiness of springtime and fun loose illustrations to show the playfulness of a laid back southern lunch. For these spreads I cooked all the food with my mother, staged and photographed all the images, wrote all the copy and drew all illustrations.
